Kodokan Judo Team Shines in Regional Championships and Regional Team Competition

Claudio Panizza (26) will represent Kodokan and Cremonese judo in the next Italian A2 Championships, the final of which is scheduled for 21 October at the Palageorge in Montichiari. In the regional championship held in Bergamo, in the -81 kg category, the Cremonese judoka reached the final thanks to two victories before the limit.

Panizza then didn’t play the last match due to a muscle strain: having already qualified for the national stage, he preferred to settle for silver and not risk worsening the situation. The Kodokan U18s also did well, competing in the Regional Grand Prix: Gabriele Adorno won gold in the heavyweight category, while Mirco Bettelli earned bronze in the -66 kg category. Mattia Savi finished seventh in the 60kg: Valentino Armeni (73 kg), Davide Vecchi (60 kg) and Letizia Portesani (63 kg) were far from the podium.

The Kodokan team then participated in the regional team competition “Mixed Team” (Olympic formula which includes teams of three females and three males) and, with the support of two loans, won the gold medal.
