Klaksvik achieves historic success – sport.ORF.at

KI Klaksvik’s footballers made history on Thursday evening. The team celebrated the first win of a team from the Faroe Islands in the European Cup in the Conference League at home with a 3-0 (2-0) win against Olimpija Ljubljana. Three weeks ago, Klaksvik had already scored their historic first point on the European stage with a 0-0 draw against OSC Lille.

In August, the club from the second largest city in the Faroe Islands, with 5,000 inhabitants, became the first Faroese team to complete its participation in the group phase of a major European club competition. Even back then, the media in the country hailed the coup for the 21-time champions as a “sensation”. A good two months later, the next big triumph on the European stage followed.
