Jorge Martin on pole for the Thai GP, Fabio Quartararo 10th, Johann Zarco 11th

Dominant during practice, Jorge Martin was also dominant during qualifying. Author of a time of 1’29”287, he took pole position on Saturday and the Buriram circuit record at the same time. The Spaniard from Pramac will therefore start at the head of the sprint this Saturday at 10 a.m. and the Grand Prix on Sunday (9 a.m.). His fourth pole in six Grands Prix.

Martin will lead on the grid Luca Marini (VR46, at 0”138) and Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia, at 0”174), while Marco Bezzecchi (VR46 at 0”196) and Brad Binder (KTM, at 0′ ‘209) will follow in second line. Still behind during qualifying, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), the leader of the World Championship, could do no better than 6th, 0”240 behind his Pramac rival.

The French will leave from even further away. Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) and Johann Zarco (Pramac) had reached Q2 directly but they did not shine, ranking respectively 10th (at 0”420) and 11th (at 0”636). Marc Marquez (Honda) escaped from Q1 to take 8th place.
