Portmany Bay hosted the regional competition under the organization of Club Nàutic Sant Antoni, an ILCA 4 and 7 Federation Neobookings Cup in which a total of 107 athletes from all over the Balearic Islands competed, including 11 from the CNSA.

On Friday, the 20th, the strong prevailing wind throughout the day prevented the fleet from going to sea, leaving the tests suspended. On Saturday, with less intensity, but with a wind of between 15 and 20 knots and a lot of swell, the regatta committee managed, with no small difficulties, to start two races, and one more for the girls’ group, in the ILCA 4 class. On Sunday, with completely different conditions, it was possible to complete the program and finish all the classes with 5 tests and one discard.

In ILCA 4 women, the first three classified were María Roselló (RCN Palma), Magdalena Villalonga (RCN Puerto Pollença) and Lucía Cardona (CN s’Arenal). In ILCA 4 men the podium went to Juan Bennasar (RCN Palma), Carlos Zendrera (CMSAP Can Pastilla) and Joan López (CNSA). In ILCA 7, finally, Karol Krupski and Mario Plomer from CV Puerto d’Andratx led the race, with Tim Lubat from RCN Palma being third.

This Neobookings Federation Cup has been the first of the three regional qualifying events planned for the 2023-2024 season for the ILCA class.

The ILCA 4 class, one of the most abundant in the country and the world, continues to be ideal for youth training and the majority of sailors come from sailing in Optimist.

Four years ago, this class experienced a significant change, when licenses were granted to build new boats in other shipyards, producing a leap in the quality of the boats and notable growth throughout the world, changing the name from Laser to ILCA. , initials of International Laser Class Association. The ILCA class continues to be Olympic for men, with its rig 7, and women, with its rig 6, which corresponds to the measurement in square meters of its sails.
