Jens Keller Returns to Professional Football as Coach for SV Sandhausen

Coach Jens Keller returns to professional football after more than three years. The former Schalke coach will succeed Danny Galm, who was dismissed on Sunday, at third division club SV Sandhausen.

“I’m looking forward to this exciting task and would like to be on the pitch with the team as quickly as possible,” said the 52-year-old.

Keller most recently coached 1. FC Nürnberg, where he was replaced by Michael Wiesinger in 2019/20 after finishing 16th in the regular second division season before relegation. The club then managed to stay in the league.

Second division relegated Sandhausen is currently far behind its own expectations in eleventh place in the table. “We are happy that we were able to sign Jens Keller for the SVS,” said sports director Matthias Imhof: “He is a coach who has already proven his quality in previous positions and has extensive experience in the Champions League and the two highest German leagues can fall back on.”

Keller will make his debut in the SVS coaching bench on Saturday in the away game at Borussia Dortmund II.
