Sinner will meet Andrey Rublev in the semi-finals, who had recently held his own against the German Olympic champion Alexander Zverev. In a direct comparison, the 22-year-old Italian is ahead by just 3:2; Sinner won the only duel so far this year in Miami in two sets.

The spectators can look forward to great tennis on Saturday, as Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas will face each other in the first semi-final. This means that the four top-seeded players from the Erste Bank Open will still be in action on the semi-final day.
