Ja’Maar Chase scores his first touchdown of the season against Cardinals

Cincinnati’s star receiver, Ja’Marr Chase, finally showcased his full potential on Sunday, improving on what had been a rather subpar season up to that point. Entering the game, Chase had accumulated 29 receptions for 284 yards, notably without a touchdown. Yet, by the end of the second drive against the Arizona Cardinalsthings started off as many previously expected.

The young receiver quickly marked five catches for 53 yards, and more crucially, recorded his first touchdown of the season. The crucial 2-yard pass from quarterback Joe Burrow solidified Chase‘s pivotal role in the Bengals‘ offense and, undoubtedly, set the tone for the game.

Bengals and Burrow got off to a hot start

The Bengals took a commanding lead early. Though they couldn’t capitalize with another touchdown from the Arizona 7 on their subsequent possession, they managed to keep the momentum. A 40-yard field goal by Evan McPherson, after an unfortunate sack of Burrow still meant the Bengals walked away with points.

These early successes brought the Bengals to a 10-0 lead, tying their largest margin of the year. Although this didn’t last very long, the Cardinals surged and overcame the deficit, now leading 14-10.

The synergy between Chase and Burrow was particularly noteworthy. The quarterback to start the game, too, was on fire, producing arguably his best performance of the season. With an impressive 11-of-12 start, totaling 95 yards, Burrow showcased precision, composure, and a clear connection with his receiving corps, particularly Chase.

The Bengals will hope to close out this game and get their offense right against a surprisingly compettiive Ariznoa Cardinals team.
