UDINE – An 84 year old man, Giovanni Battista Cescutticalled Nino, is died after being hit by a car having been transported to the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in Udine in very serious conditions.
The accident occurred late in the afternoon today, Friday 20 October, in via Colugna, at the intersection with via Treviso. For reasons currently being investigated by the police, he was hit by the car while he was walking.

The man, also resident in Udine, was immediately taken care of by the medical nursing staff and transported by ambulance with the medical team on board, but unfortunately he died shortly after hospitalization. The victim was an Italian basketball champion. Cescutti was Italian champion ’58-’59 and twice top scorer in Serie A: with the national team shirt he played in a World Cup in ’63 and two European Championships (1963 and 1965). For a year he coached Australian Udine.
