Ilunión Makes History with Victory in Spain Supercup of Wheelchair Basketball

Ilunión made history by winning the Spain Supercup of Wheelchair Basketball for the first time in its history. All this thanks to his victory against Amiab Albacete (67-77) in the second edition of the tournament held in the Salamanca town of Béjar.

The La Mancha team was unable to retain its champion crown from last year after losing to Ilunionwho arrived at the final full of morale after starring in a twenty-two point comeback in the last quarter over Travel Bilbaowhich he ended up winning with a triple on the horn of the British Terry Bywater.

The Madrid team, led by Victor Ramosplayed against Amiab Albacete a very serious match, tactically impeccable in defense and with a lot of success in attack, especially with players like the Mexican Luis Eduardo Jasso, the British Gregg Warburton and the Australian Bill Latham.

Amiab Albacetewho in the semifinals easily got rid of Allies of Valladolid Foundationsuffered a lot from the beginning and could not find the mechanisms to hurt their rival, who arrived three points ahead at half-time.

In the third quarter Ilunion expanded its difference to six points and in the final minutes knew how to hold on to maintain that advantage against the push of Amiab Albacetewho did not give up trying to overcome the result, something he could not do because the emergencies led him to make mistakes that benefited the Madrid team.

In the match for third and fourth place he won Travel Bilbaowhich won 96-44 with Canadian Patrick Anderson, with 29 points, as the top scorer.
