“I used to think it was a 50/50 fight…” Wilder’s trainer on Usyk-Fury superfight

A few weeks ago, the boxing world was surprised by yet another news that Fury and Usyk have agreed on a fight, which will probably take place on December 23 of this year.

Taking into account that the long-awaited duel had already been set a clear date (April 29), there is no basis for absolute confidence in the course of this fight.

And yet, more and more often, opinions are surfacing among boxing experts about the outcome of a potential fight. Wilder’s current trainer Malik Scott, however, believes that Usyk has damaged the image of himself in the fight against Daniel Dubois.

“I used to think it was a 50/50 fight. Now I’m leaning 70/30 in favor of Fury. The way Usyk looked in his last fight against Dubois… I’m not a fan of that performance. He fought a good fight. I just know what he’s capable of. I like Usyk, who beat Joshua twice. He’s going to need that kind of performance to be 50/50. I think Fury is the favorite at the moment. I’m sure we’ll think differently in four weeks,” said Scott .

35-year-old Fury has had 34 fights in professional boxing. He has 33 wins, 24 of them by knockout, and one draw. The last time Fury was in the ring was at the end of last year, defeating compatriot Derek Chisora. On October 28, Fury is scheduled to face former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

On the other hand, 36-year-old Usik participated in 21 fights in the professional boxing ring and won all of them, ending 13 duels prematurely. Usik was the absolute champion in the weight category up to 90.2 kilograms. In his last fight, he defeated Daniel Dubois by TKO.
