Hubert Hurkacz Secures Final Spot in Shanghai Masters 1000 after Victory over Sebastian Korda

Hubert Hurkacz17th in the ATP ranking at 26 years old, became the first finalist of the Shanghai Masters 1000 this Saturday after defeating Sebastian Korda, 6-3 and 6-4.

The Pole earned two breaks, one in each set, to advance to his third final in a tournament of the category. He won the one in Miami, in 2021 and lost the one in Montreal, in 2022.

Korda could not make a single breaking ball against the enormous service of his executioner, who reaches the last round in Shanghai with 77 aces in five games, an average of just over 15 in each of his appearances.

His pass to the final allows Hurkacz to rise to 13th place on the ATP entry list, the same position he occupies in the Race that gives him a ticket to the ATP Finals in Turin (November 12 to 19) and where Hubert could still have a place if he wins the majestic Qi Zhong tomorrow. He would be placed eleventh, immediately behind Casper Ruud.

In the fight for the title awaits the winner of the second semi-final who will cross Andrey Rublevthe only ‘top10’ remaining in competition, and Grigor Dimitrov.
