Have the Olympics become a hot potato?

For several years, applications for the Olympic and Paralympic Games have become rarer. Latest example: the organization of the 2030 Winter Games. The Spanish Pyrenees and the city of Vancouver in Canada have thrown in the towel. In a forum a French collective is alarmed: “If the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur regions have formalized their candidacy (…) it is because the others refused”. How can these global events adapt to the dual economic and ecological emergency? What is the point of organizing the Olympics today?
