Gerben Kuypers has won the Kermiscross, his second victory of the season. Kuypers was by far the strongest in Ardooie. Top favorite Eli Iserbyt finished second, ahead of Joran Wyseure.
Gerben Kuypers had already built up confidence last weekend with a victory in Oisterwijk and also raced alertly at the front in Ardooie. The young Belgian was part of a peloton that set the pace at the start of the race.
But it didn’t happen fast enough for Kuypers. Our compatriot once shook the tree, only Michael Vanthourenhout and Eli Iserbyt could catch on.
But the Pauwels Sauzen-Bingoal duo could not keep up with the pace of a very strong Kuypers for long. The Circus-RE UZ-Technord rider first threw Vanthourenhout overboard and a little later Iserbyt also had to release the role.
An impressive Kuypers rode solo and with a large lead to victory. Iserbyt had to settle for 2nd place, the battle for 3rd place was won by Joran Wyseure.
