FSV Frankfurt sees no approach

“We take things like this completely seriously,” said the Bornheim club chairman Michael Görner on Thursday to the FAZ. “But there are absolutely no grounds for assuming that the game was being manipulated. That it wasn’t a normal football game in any way.”

We’re talking about the regional league match between FSV Frankfurt (fourteenth in the table in the Southwest season) and Steinbach Haiger (5th), which ended 0-3 on October 7th. At halftime, Steinbach Haiger had a 2-0 lead. Conspicuously large sums of money are said to have been staked on this interim result abroad. This was the result of global monitoring of betting odds.

The Federal Ministry of the Interior, which is responsible for sport, confirmed to several media outlets that there was suspicion regarding the halftime score in the game in the fourth highest division. Therefore, it was said, the tip was forwarded to the Federal Criminal Police Office and the Sports Manipulation Reporting Office. The FSV has not yet been contacted by anyone about the issue, said Görner.

After the suspicion of betting manipulation became known, the Frankfurt club management watched the first half again on video. “There weren’t even a few game situations that caused any doubts – that also includes the referee’s performance,” said Görner. The matter will “not be another issue” for the FSV. “We see no reason to do anything special with our players.”
