Francesco Bagnaia Imitates Casey Stoner’s Steps, Will the Taboo of Using Number 1 in MotoGP End?

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Former Ducati and Honda racer, Casey Stoner, is happy that Francesco Bagnaia emulated his steps to wearing the number #1 after becoming MotoGP world champion. He believes the taboo about world champions not wearing number 1 will end.

As is known, Francesco Bagnaia became the first racer since 2008 to return to wearing number 1. This was done after becoming champion in MotoGP 2022.

Incidentally, Francesco Bagnaia’s championship title last season was also Ducati’s first since 2007. At that time, it was Casey Stoner who ended Ducati’s championship drought.

“I’m proud that you wear number #1,” said Stoner when talking to Bagnaia at Goodwood as quoted by crash.

“There is a taboo that prohibits racers from wearing number 1. If you are world champion again then that must be shown with pride,” he added.

Bagnaia also responded to Casey Stoner’s comments. He admitted that he would use all opportunities to become champion again in MotoGP.

“If you get the opportunity, that (becoming champion again) is the best thing to do,” said Bagnaia.

“I agree,” replied Stoner.
