Football: Venezuela’s incredible goal to snatch a draw against Neymar’s Brazil

Eduard Bello became a national hero in Venezuela this Thursday. Entering the game ten minutes from the end of the match against Brazil, while his team was trailing, the little-known Mazatlan FC striker scored a sumptuous goal to snatch the equalizer (1-1). In addition to having traveled the world, this magnificent rose had the merit of offering a point to Venezuela, which therefore remains in a good position to qualify for the next World Cup in North America.

It was in the 85th minute that the Venezuelan came out of his box. After a great fight in midfield, the ball flew down the right flank, into the feet of Jefferson Savarino. The Salt Lake City player then sent a cross lightly behind the back of Eduard Bello, who had no choice but to attempt the bicycle. This one hit the mark. Mystified, Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson could do nothing to save his team.

A few hundred Venezuelan supporters traveled to Cuiaba to support their teams. Plunged into total hysteria, they largely celebrated this sublime goal, synonymous with a draw against Brazil, a real feat.

With four points in three matches since the start of these South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, Venezuela ranks 6th in the standings, the last qualifying place. For its part, Brazil lost its first points following this bicycle. Neymar and his teammates are second behind Lionel Messi’s Argentina.

Note that Parisian Marquinhos played the entire match and that Brazil’s next match will be against Ugarte’s Uruguay on October 18 (2 a.m. French time).
