REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Five Indonesian badminton players have successfully advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2023 Junior Badminton World Championship which will take place from 2-8 October in Spokane, Washington, United States (US). Based on data from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI), Friday (6/10/2023), the five Indonesian representatives were mixed doubles, men’s doubles, men’s singles and women’s singles.
For the mixed doubles number, Indonesia was represented by two pairs in the quarter-finals, namely Adrian Pratama/Felisha A Pasaribu and Jonathan F Gosal/Priskila V Elsadai. Adrian Pratama/Felisha A Pasaribu will face Malaysian representatives, namely Low Han Chen and Chong Jie Yu, to advance to the semi-finals.
Other mixed doubles representatives from Indonesia, namely Jonathan F Gosal and Priskila V Elsadai, will face Kenta Matsukawa and Nao Yamakita, who are representatives of Sakura Country, Japan.
In the men’s doubles, one Indonesian pair that has qualified for the quarter-finals is M Al Farizi / Nikolaus Joaquin, who will next face Chinese representatives, Ma Shang / Zhu Yi Jun, to advance to the semifinals.
In the men’s singles event, the Indonesian representative who qualified for the quarter-finals in the championship was Alwi Farhan and in the women’s singles event was Chiara Marvella Handoyo.
Alwi Farhan will face Wang Zi Jun from the Bamboo Curtain Country, China. Meanwhile, for women’s singles, Chiara Marvella Handoyo will face Japan’s representative, Tomoko Miyazaki.
