The qualifying jury, made up of prominent professionals from the Tamaulipas sports field, defined the finalists for the different categories of the State Sports Award 2023 and Sports Journalism Award 2023among them are two members of Grupo MILENIO Tamaulipas.
There were dozens of resumes and sports works that arrived at the offices of the Tamaulipas Sports Institute, so the judges had a very complicated task.

Finalists in the 2023 State Sports Award
In deliberation that lasted a few hours, the finalists for each category were defined; In the athlete category, the finalists are: Bryan Andrés Salazar Pérez from the taekwondo discipline, Ledia Damaris Juárez Aladro from rhythmic gymnastics and Regina Azaneth Pedraza Lerma from fencing.
As for coach, the final shortlist is made up of: Jorge Payán Muñoz del Alba who is an archery player; Humberto del Toro Elizondo from the athletics and para-athletics discipline, as well as Diego Popa from canoeing.
In the category of promotion, protection and promotion of sports, it will go to Erick Rubén de León, who is part of adapted sports.
In the children’s athlete category, the nominees are: Carolina Vázquez Ortíz from judo, Alejandro Anaya from Rodeo and the Tampico Rhythmic Gymnastics Group.
In the youth athlete category, the finalist athletes were: Valentina García Gómez in archery, Edith De Leija Sánchez in baseball and softball, and Eduardo Sagastegui Becerra in judo.
In veteran athlete: Cecilia Martínez Aguilera from judo was nominated as a finalist, in addition to Isela Cañón Sánchez and Gloria Molina Cantú, both from athletics; In non-federated sports, the nominee was Fabiola Hernández González from street soccer.
In adapted sports, Gerardo Rodríguez Banda in archery, Gabriel Avilés González in para-athletics and Ashley Naomi Cruz Aguilera in boccia, were chosen as finalists in this category.
Regarding the Sports Hall of Merit, several proposals were received that on the day of the State Sports Award, the athletes who will be enthroned will be announced.

The Sports Institute in Tamaulipas will announce the winners at the Tamaulipas sports festival to be held in mid-November in Ciudad Victoria with the presence of Governor Américo Villarreal.
At the event, there will also be a special guest who will be Gerardo Reyes, a major league baseball player from Tamaulipas.
