FC Bayern Supports Breast Cancer Awareness with Allianz Arena Game

What a highlight for FC Bayern’s Bundesliga women – and Eintracht Frankfurt’s 0-0 draw.

Instead of the usual on the Bayern campus, the Munich team was able to play their home game in the Allianz Arena. After all, the stadium was free during Bayern’s Bundesliga men’s international break.

And: With the large arena, the women were able to attract a lot of attention for a good cause.

Because after the final whistle, the arena lit up pink – instead of Bayern red. This is intended to draw attention to “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”, i.e. October. After all, breast cancer prevention is an important topic.

And what kind of jerseys were those?

Yes, Bayern’s jersey sponsor Allianz also joined in and colored its logo on the jersey pink specifically for this purpose. There was also a pink ribbon on the chest – a symbol of the fight against cancer.

Bavaria played under the banner of cancer prevention

A game with exclamation marks. Also because the Munich team were able to celebrate a new record: they have never been able to welcome 19,000 spectators in the Bundesliga. Only in the Champions League against Barcelona did the Bayern women play in front of more fans, namely 24,000 (Bundesliga record is 38,365 at Cologne against Frankfurt in April).

But on the pitch there is lean food in the first half.

TV expert Almuth Schult (32) after 45 minutes: “I hoped for more.”

Munich’s biggest chance was ruined in the 33rd minute after winning the ball in Frankfurt’s half because Bühl was played offside…

Things are also pretty mediocre for referee Karoline Wacker: her radio doesn’t work at the beginning of the second half, so she’s surprised and has to check it in the meantime.

Without superstar Pernille Harder, who suffered an medial ligament injury on her right knee a week ago and will be out for several weeks, the Munich team is still struggling to move forward after the break.

The game is bubbling along, chances are scarce. Only Lina Magull’s shot from 17 meters in the 82nd minute caused a brief stir. But Frankfurt’s goalkeeper Stina Johannes even holds on to that.

It remains 0-0.

Bayern’s Linda Dallmann: “Two draws after four match days is not enough for our standards and our squad. We know that every missed point in the championship can be expensive. Now we are even more challenged in the top games.”

I suppose. The game may not have been an advertisement for football. But one for the fight against cancer!
