FC Barcelona and Real Madrid win and remain alone at the top of League F

MADRID, 5 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid remained the only two teams in the 2023-2024 F League to win their first three games after defeating Valencia (6-0) and Betis (5-1) in the matches corresponding to the first day of the championship, postponed at the time due to the footballers’ strike.

The Blaugranas and Madridistas made their debut in front of their Johan Cruyff and Alfredo di Stéfano fans and both met their commitments with great solvency and with victories, adding their third league victory to try to open a gap at the top of the standings.

The current champion got rid of Valencia 6-0, unfortunate in the figure of defender Claudia Florentino who scored two own goals to give the advantage to Jonatan Giráldez’s team. Aitana Bonmatí, before the break, and Mapi León, Alexia Putellas, from a penalty on a day in which she received a tribute for her 400 games with the team, and Marta Torrejón completed the rout in the second half.

For its part, Real Madrid got the visit of Real Betis back on track very quickly, which was already two minutes behind on the scoreboard after a goal from Maite Oroz, who is still on fire. However, the Madridistas were unable to extend their advantage until the second half where they raised their level, reflected in the goals from Hayley Raso, who made her debut as a goal scorer, Naomie Feller, Paula Perea with an own goal, and Signe Bruun, while Tiffany Cameron he scored the visiting goal of honor in added time.

On the other hand, Levante Las Planas, who had also won their first two games, could not follow in the footsteps of Barça and Real Madrid after tying at their stadium by one goal with Sporting Club Huelva, which opened its points tally.

Furthermore, the attractive match between Real Sociedad and Levante in Zubieta concluded with a one-goal draw, with Jensen ahead of Natalia Arroyo’s team and Erika González tying for José Luis Sánchez Vera’s team, which was superior and enjoyed the better chances, but they are already four points off the lead.

Closer is Atlético de Madrid, who did not fail in their visit to Villarreal, which they defeated 1-3 to leave the Castellón team as the only one without points. In a duel of reunions, that of Virginia Torrecilla with the red and white team, and that of Sheila Guijarro, with the local team, the visitors took advantage of Merel van Dongen’s early goal to feel more comfortable. Leicy Santos scored 0-2 just before half-time and although Kayla McCoy brought excitement to the final quarter of an hour, Estefanía Banini ended up sentencing.

From the rest of the day, two other goals stood out: that of Sevilla, which added its first points by beating Costa Adeje Tenerife 5-1 with ten from the 19th minute, and that of Madrid CFF, which after winning 1-5 at home the Sevilla team defeated SD Eibar 1-6, although without much of a role for Racheal Kundananji, who ‘only’ scored one goal. Athletic Club righted its course with a tight victory (1-0) against the recently promoted Granada.
