There is only one Italian, Giorgio Scalvini of Atalanta, in the list of 25 finalists who will compete for the title European Golden Boy 2023, or the best Under 21 player in Europe. The list, revealed on Thursday evening on the stage of the Cucinelli Theater in Solomeo, includes the first 20 players of the Golden Boy Index (ranking drawn up by Football Benchmark, data & analytics partner of the award) with the exception of Gavi who, despite the current 4th placed, is excluded from the regulation as it is already present in the roll of honour. Added to them are 5 wild cards assigned by the Tuttosport editorial team.

A jury made up of 50 journalists from all over Europe will elect the Absolute Best 2023. His name and that of all the other winners will be announced at a press conference in November which will precede the award ceremony on Monday 4 December in Turin. 16 nations are represented in the list of 25 finalists, with France as the record holder with 4 players followed by Spain (3) and Belgium, Germany, England and Portugal (2). With 5 candidates, the Bundesliga and La Liga lead the ranking of the most represented leagues, ahead of the Premier League (4) and Liga Portugal (3). There are 4 clubs that boast two members among the finalists: Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Benfica and Real Madrid.
