Erling Haaland leads Manchester City to derby victory

Thanks to goalkeeper Erling Haaland, Manchester City comfortably won the derby against city rivals United. With two goals and an assist, the Norwegian was the decisive man in the 3-0 (1-0) win at Old Trafford and extended his season tally to eleven goals in ten Premier League games.

With 24 points, Champions League winners Manchester City, who have won four of the last five derbies, remain in third place on the heels of leaders Tottenham Hotspur (26), while Arsenal FC are tied with the “Citizens” in third place. Tottenham (2-1 on Friday at Crystal Palace) and Arsenal (5-0 on Saturday against Sheffield United) had already submitted. Manchester United (15) is eighth after their fifth defeat of the season.

Liverpool maintains an impeccable home record

Haaland, who scored three times in City’s 6-3 home gala against Man United last season, first scored with a penalty kick in the 26th minute of the game. In the second half, the former Dortmund player finally scored with a header (49′) after a cross from Bernardo Silva for team manager Pep Guardiola’s team. Phil Foden (80th) finally scored after Haaland’s assist to make it 3-0.

Previously on Sunday, Liverpool FC and team manager Jürgen Klopp maintained their impeccable home record and were happy about their fourth win in the fourth game of the season at Anfield Road. Liverpool won against Nottingham Forest 3-0 (2-0) on matchday nine and is fourth with 23 points.

Diogo Jota (31st), Darwin Nunez (35th) and Mohamed Salah (77th) were successful for Klopp’s team in Liverpool’s confident success. Former Leipzig player Dominik Szoboszlai prepared two goals. Striker Luis Díaz, whose parents were kidnapped in Colombia on Saturday, was not in the starting line-up.

National player Pascal Groß, however, missed the jump to sixth place with Brighton & Hove Albion. Against FC Fulham, Brighton couldn’t get more than a 1-1 (1-0) draw at home. Groß, who formed a German starting eleven duo in midfield alongside former national player Mo Dahoud, provided the assist for the 1-0 win through young star Evan Ferguson (26th). Fulham equalized through the “almost Bayern” Joao Palhinha (65th).
