Endurance Trail: a 37-year-old French runner dies of a heart attack while running

This is a tragic first for the Endurance Trail of the Festival des Templiers. For the first time in 29 editions, a runner died in full effort during the famous trail and ultratrail race gathering which is currently taking place in Millau (Aveyron), with the Viaduct in the background.

The 37-year-old runner, accustomed to this type of event, was entered this Friday on l’Endurance Trail, an ultratrail of 104 km and 4,550 m of elevation gain. The participant set off around 4 a.m. on the night of Thursday to Friday before stopping at the 45th km. Victim of a cardiac arrest upon arriving at Mas Biau (near Saint-André-de-Vézines), shortly before 12:30 p.m., she could not be revived by the emergency services.

“The big trail family deeply saddened”

“The emergency teams on site then immediately intervened, but despite the rapid arrival of a chartered helicopter, the doctor dispatched to the site could only note the death,” confides Odile Baudrier, the organizer of the event. .

“The great trail family and more particularly that of the Templars is deeply saddened by the loss of this runner, and joins the organizing team in offering its condolences to the family and loved ones,” declares the organization of the trail. race in a press release relayed on Instagram.

The race was not neutralized however. Among the women, the big winner Jennifer Lemoine won in 11h32. An anecdotal victory after this tragic event.
