Eden Hazard Cancels Retirement Because of Being Tempted by Chelsea’s Rival Club?

Eden Hazard was backed to cancel his retirement by West Ham first team coach Kevin Nolan, who offered him a trial.

Hazard announced his retirement as a player. Withdrawing when he was only 32 years old, West Ham offered him a solution

WHAT HAPPENED? The former Belgium international decided to hang up his boots at the age of 32, having been without a club since leaving Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer. However, Nolan believes that Hazard may be tempted to change his mind in the coming months, leaving the door open for a potential opportunity at the London Stadium.

WHAT HE SAID: “I would have a Chelsea version of Hazard at West Ham, yes,” the West Ham first team coach told talkSPORT Drive. “I’m sure if he wanted to come and take part in our trials, I mean, I would definitely be willing. I don’t know about the manager [David Moyes]. But I definitely want to take him for a trial! Some of the best years in the Premier League, he was part of some of the best goals. It’s sad that at the age of 32 he has decided to step down because I’m sure someone with a game of his caliber could be playing at the top level for many years to come. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we experience a little bit of change in the next six months to a year.”

HAZARD & MAGUIRE? When pressed further by presenter Andy Goldstein if West Ham were trying to sign Hazard and Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, Nolan laughed and replied: “I just think at 32, he’s just said he’s retired. It’s been so many times, I remember when [Paul] Scholes did it.”

“Then he got a phone call from Sir Alex [Ferguson] and he said ‘oh yes, I’ll be back’. I just think something like that could happen to Hazard because someone might be willing to give him the opportunity to say ‘come on, come and play for us for six months.”

WHAT IS NEXT? If Hazard does return to the Premier League, it would be a sensational comeback for a player who won two Premier League titles, two Europa Leagues and an FA Cup during his seven years at Chelsea.
