Dynamism and Growth: The Success Story of Dojo des Amognes in Saint-Benin-d’Azy

Saint-Benin-d’Azy. Dynamism is our watchword. The Dojo des Amognes, created in 2000, continues its development. While the judo club has just recorded a significant increase in the number of its members, its members have numerous projects this season.

“Dynamism is our watchword,” immediately recalled Géraldine Chandelier, the president, during the last general assembly of the club. As proof, the Dojo des Amognes recorded a record increase in the number of licensees in 2023, going from 78 to 113 members, an increase of almost 45%. “We are very proud of this development,” added the president, for whom “the strength of the club has been to offer sessions and courses during school holidays, in order to maintain activity.”

World champions

A strong progression which can also be explained by the diversity of activities offered by the club: baby judo, judo for children and adults, taïso, bodybuilding, etc. And two new activities were offered this year: Brazilian jujitsu and grappling. In addition, “the results are promising, and the children are diligent and determined,” said Florian Lafarge, the technical and sporting director of the club, who was delighted with the medals won by his protégés, two of them having notably qualified for the regional championships. A progression which can also be explained by the support of the municipality and partners, as well as the investment of volunteers and parents during the various actions carried out by the club, such as snacks, raffle, rifles, outings or even meals.

But also through the constant search for new projects. Thus, the club will welcome on its tatamis, on January 13, Hélène Receveaux, world judo champion.

In addition, the dojo will soon be certified and will be able to host training courses “with overnight stays on the mat” this season. Finally, a multiple world champion in Brazilian jujitsu should sign up with the Amognard club next December.
