The love for basketball goes beyond borders, the example today is presented by the Durango women’s basketball team, since the players who complement this team will be wearing the colors of Mexico, within the Maxi International Basketball Cup, which will be celebrating in Colombia.
The players, proudly from Durango, who will be defending the colors of Mexico in Colombia, are the following: Tania Carolina Quintero Quiñones, Pantoja Ríos Bertha Daniela, Vargas Mir Diana Paulina, Calzada Castro Karla Yazmin, Carrillo Martínez María Isabel, Nevárez Reyes Angelica María, Carrillo Martínez María de la Luz, Torres Reyes Lorena and Gurrola Ibarra Wendy Laura Eloísa.
This championship will be held in Medellín, Antioquia, it will be held at the Bedout Coliseum, it will start on November 14 and the grand final will be held on November 19.
In international events, the Durango squad has already covered a mile, since they have participated in a series of competitions of this order. Their first tournament was in Jalisco, since in 2019 they were part of the Maxi ADEMEBA national competition, where they finished sixth place, after being defeated by Chihuahua in the quarterfinals.
Their second experience was in Cancún, Quintana Roo, in 2021, there they were already part of the Maxi Baloncesto Internacional, in which Mexican teams, Colombia and Panama participated, there the Duranguenses finished in fourth place.
That same year, Durango returned to the Maxi Baloncesto Nacional to finish in position number six; Also in 2021, they stepped on the courts of the state of Querétaro, where the women’s scorpion team competed in the Nation Tournament of the Maxi International Basketball Association, in a great achievement, as the grand final was played against Guanajuato.
It was last July that the same Durango team arrived in Mérida, Yucatán, to be part of the Maxi Basketball International, there Durango, under the representation of Mexico, finished as the best in the tournament, champions, so they have been invited to the International Maxi Basketball Tournament that will be held in Colombia, from November 12 to 19, and Colombia, Puerto Rico, Panama, Cuba and of course, Mexico will be participating.
