Tim Walter, head coach of Hamburger SV, is known for his sometimes short-tempered and emotional nature – but this incident stands out. Now he has to answer for it.

Because he shouted at and insulted a doping doctor, HSV coach Tim Walter was sentenced by the DFB sports court to a fine of 20,000 euros and a suspended indoor ban. The German Football Association (DFB) announced this on Friday. The ban on coaching on the sidelines applies to two games in the 2nd Bundesliga, but has been suspended until the end of this season on June 30, 2024.

According to the DFB, the National Anti-Doping Agency NADA carried out a training test at Hamburger SV on September 23rd. Walter is said to have “shouted loudly at the doping doctor in charge and verbally insulted him significantly,” according to the association’s statement. The Hamburg coach has since apologized for it.

In terms of sport, things continue like this for the coach: Hamburger SV welcomes SpVgg Greuther Fürth to the sold-out Volkspark Stadium at the weekend. Walter wants to make up for the mixed 1-1 draw with newly promoted Wehen Wiesbaden before the international break on Saturday (1 p.m./Sky). With the help of the competition and a goal-scoring victory of their own, HSV could regain the top of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga. Before the duel, the HSV coach praised his coaching opponent Alexander Zorniger. You can see a “clear handwriting” in him and I have respect for him.

Lukasz Poreba is now also available in the HSV squad. The defensive midfielder tore a muscle fiber in his thigh after his loan move to HSV and had to take a break. The 23-year-old was in the squad for the first time against Wehen Wiesbaden (1-1), but was not used. “I think he’s doing a very good job,” Walter said. “He is a good boy who accepts a lot, tries to implement a lot, has a high level of willingness.” Striker Andras Nemeth (ankle) is questionable. Captain Sebastian Schonlau (calf) and Anssi Suhonen (broken fibula) will definitely not be there against Fürth.
