Dominican Republic Announces Delegation for XIX Pan American Games in Chile

Santo Domingo, Oct 15 (EFE).- The delegation of the Dominican Republic that will take part in the XIX Pan American Games to be held in Santiago de Chile was made up of 238 athletes, the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) reported this Sunday.

After the final registration, the Head of Mission, through the technical direction of the COD, reported that of the 238 athletes who will compete in the Games, 166 are men and 72 women.

The athletes will be joined by doctors, physiotherapists, delegates, press personnel and coaches, bringing the complete delegation to 367 people.

The baseball team will open the Dominican participation in the continental event, since the tournament of that sport will begin next Wednesday at the Parque Bicentenario Cerrillos, in the Chilean capital.

The Dominican team, which left this Sunday for the South American country, will have its first match on Thursday, October 19 at 8:30 a.m. in the Dominican Republic (12:30 GMT), against the Panama team.

For this Monday, the artistic gymnastics, boxing and clay pigeon shooting delegations are scheduled to leave, while on Tuesday the water skiing, diving, beach volleyball athletes will travel, while on Wednesday they will do speed swimming, badminton and 3×3 basketball.

The Dominican Republic ranked ninth in the medal table of the previous event of the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, when it won a total of 40 medals. EFE
