Dominican Delegation of 238 Athletes Prepares for XIX Pan American Games in Chile

EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO. The Dominican delegation that will take part in the XIX Pan American Games to be held in Santiago de Chile was made up of a total of 238 athletes.

After the final registration, the Head of Mission, through the technical direction of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD), reported that of the 238 athletes, a total of 166 are from the male branch and 72 are women.

The advance party of the delegation that has been in Chile since last Tuesday, and headed by Juan Febles, technical director of the COD, said that the total number of athletes will compete in 36 sports.

With the 129 officers, which includes the head of mission, doctors, physiotherapists, delegates, press personnel and trainers, the delegation is made up of 367 people.

The advance party from the Head of Mission began the delimitation and identification of the delegation’s accommodation area at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.

The baseball team will open the Quisqueyan participation in the continental event, since the tournament of that sport starts this Wednesday at the Parque Bicentenario Cerrillos in Santiago, Chile.

The Dominican team, which left on Sunday for Chile, will have its first match on Thursday the 19th, at 9:00 in the morning (8:30 am RD time) against the Panama team.
