Disappointment and Frustration: FC Utrecht Fans Denied Entry by Mayor’s Rumored Threat

Teun den Hartog, chairman of SVFCU, the supporters’ association of FC Utrecht, is disappointed with the return of the Domstedelingen fans for the match against FC Volendam. The mayor of Volendam heard rumors of a threat and decided to send everyone away.

“The bus stopped and then we were told that we had to go back. The mayor had heard that there would be an outbreak from our supporters. These types of matches are discussed extensively with the security triangle,” Den Hartog told RTV Utrecht.

Den Hartog states that the claim that something could happen is based on nothing. “Everything has been officially arranged, including with the police, and then the mayor hears one message and we are sent back. That person is not good and I mean that seriously. She does not have her organization in order.”

Den Hartog knew nothing about any plans to demolish anything. “I have not heard anything about any threat. Otherwise I am sure FC Utrecht would have said: we are not traveling. That only causes trouble,” he concludes.
