The lights are green for all USM disciplines, however the closure of the intercommunal swimming pool has largely hampered the energy deployed by the Union Sportive Mortagnaise (Orne) and also affected the morale of its troops.
Overview of the different sections
679 licensees, “a general increase of 129 members”, welcomes the President, Jacky Lasalle, on the occasion of the general assembly, last October 12 at the village hall of Mortagne-au-Perche.
Badminton has 42 licensees “the number has doubled in 2022”, rejoices the president of the Club, l’Échiquier du Perche 15 licensees with a team in Regional and one in Departmental, 252 for Football, “we will increase to 300 licensees in 2023, football for 3-5 year olds, walking football and adapted football will work well,” says Ludovic, co-president. “Women’s football is growing and welcoming 45 women,” he adds, “we have obtained the Club de vie label, the 2nd Orne Club to be labeled after Flers.”
As for the hand, 80 licensees and 5 teams engaged, the office has been renewed, Elodie Prieur takes over as president.
But the main problem comes from elsewhere.
For USM swimming, the announcement of the new swimming pool closure period, announced by the CDC, had the effect of a shock. “We have raised the bar and recorded 65 licensees.

The closure of the swimming pool decided by the Services Directorate of the CDC, without having informed us beforehand, led to the resignation of the USM Natation office,” proclaims with great bitterness Julien Drieu, president of this section.
The USM Plongée is also a victim of the problem, which has 50 licensees. “The level 1 and 2 training courses are very compromised,” regrets, distressed, one of the managers of the Diving section.
The swimming section is organizing an extraordinary general meeting on October 19. If no one comes forward to renew the office, the club will be put on hold, and classes stopped.

No response from elected officials
Faced with this worrying announcement, elected officials nevertheless remained strangely moved. No one will speak up to try to find another way out.
Already, the closure of this infrastructure from April 10 to July 7 has, it seems, done a lot of harm to the president of the USM, Jacky Lasalle.
The most convincing example in 2023 being “the cancellation of School Day in which sections of the USM were very involved in June 2022, and which had been a great success with schools and their students” , he laments bitterly.
In the rest of the sections
The Table Tennis club is still on the rise, “79 licensees currently, with the virtual reality sessions we should count 90 licensees during this new season, 3 of which are elite”, rejoices Frédéric Logeai. adding “we have still put together a sponsorship file so that the Club can continue its growth…”
The Archery section has 42 members to date. Volleyball training has resumed in Mortagne, USM Foot having granted us a slot to play, so “20 young people aged 16-17 will be able to practice volleyball in Mortagne”, rejoices Joël Coupeau, President.
After sending his warm thanks to all those (the USM office and its sections, the firefighters during the Telethons in which his family was very largely involved, and all the same the CDC and the municipality of Mortagne as well as all the volunteers) who joined forces by contributing generously to the smooth running of all the events organized during his two years in office, which were crowned with success, including “the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the USM, I regret having to resign due to lack of consultation with elected officials,” he says with great annoyance.
Patrick Baillard, new president?
This resulted in the election of a new President, Patrick Baillard, ex-president of the Football section for 20 years, candidate for the position of President of the USM. The steering committee will meet very soon to proceed with the election of the president, the vice-president (Perrine wishing to retain her communications mission, but resigns from that of vice-president), and the new secretary of the USM.
With many positions to be filled by the end of October, the stakes are high so that the USM as a whole can continue its momentum.
