Saarbrücken’s Ludwigsparkstadion is currently not playable due to the rain. The time until the cup clash against FC Bayern on Wednesday will be very short.

The staging of FC Bayern Munich’s DFB Cup game against 1. FC Saarbrücken on Wednesday (8.45 p.m./ARD and Sky) is at great risk. This Monday there will be an inspection of the field by the city of Saarbrücken and the Saarland Football Association, as the third division team confirmed.

After heavy rain, Saarland’s league game against Dynamo Dresden on Sunday had to be canceled at half-time. Numerous puddles had formed on the lawn in the Ludwigsparkstadion.

After it continued to rain overnight, experts should check whether the water can drain away in time. However, further rain is forecast for Tuesday, but not for match day. A decision as to whether the second round game can take place could be made this Monday, according to an FCS spokesman, as the TV broadcasters also need planning security.

The game has long been sold out with 16,000 spectators. According to the club, a move to another location is not possible at such short notice, especially since the neighboring stadiums of FC Homburg (Tuesday against SpVgg Greuther Fürth) and 1. FC Kaiserslautern (Tuesday against 1. FC Köln) are already occupied by cup games.
