Dak Prescott and the Cowboys: A Surging Force in the NFL

Let no one think of discounting the Cowboys either. Regardless of the narratives established against him, it is a reality that Dak Prescott is playing a great season, it is a reality that he is being one of the best QBs of the season and a reality that the Cowboys attack is growing in recent weeks guided by his quarterback and supported by a stellar CeeDee Lamb. In fact, the connection that these two players have cultivated is the main argument of an offensive where the race does not end up marking the differences but in which other actors have become involved. After the defeat of Dallas in Santa Clara in which it was assumed that the 49ers were the best team in the NFL and the Cowboys were not worthy as contenders, San Francisco has lost all its games and the Cowboys have counted all their appointments as victories, also playing at his best level. The NFL is a long-distance race, everyone misses games, everyone has bad days – even more so this season – and what Dallas has been showing against rivals that have put everyone in trouble is worthy of mention.

Worthy of mention is the level at which Prescott is operating in the underneath and intermediate zones, his accuracy in tight windows and his high level when the pressure comes. Also how he has once again incorporated the use of his legs as a resource. It is notable the versatility with which they are using CeeDee Lamb, who is no longer just a receiver who lives permanently in the slot and does more and more damage lined up outside the numbers, he destroyed the Rams every time Prescott sent passes outside to his favorite receiver. And it is also notable how Brandin Cooks and Jake Ferguson have been incorporated as sustainable alternatives that make Dallas’ attack more varied and complete.

Equally noteworthy is the level of the defense and how it has been able to overcome the very important losses due to injury it has suffered. It is fair to highlight the level at which DaRon Bland is playing, who was forced to leave the slot to line up as an open CB; Not only has he not negatively affected the change but he is playing at a stratospheric level, in fact the entire roster of Cowboys CBs is at a high level, with Gilmore on the opposite side of Bland and Jourdan Lewis at nickel. The way in which Dallas has resolved these losses due to injury also involves formations with three safeties, where we must highlight the emergence of Marquise Bell, who lives permanently in the box next to the Linebackers and has adapted perfectly, offering a lot balance to the collective.

Once again the Cowboys have had a good streak, they have reached a high level of play and once again they will have to confirm those feelings in the face of what seems to be their only unfinished business, beating a great team, beating a candidate for the ring. This next day they will have the opportunity against the Eagles who, without leaving the best feelings, are the only team that has only lost one game this season. The leadership of the division will be at stake as well as the credibility of two teams that, in theory, are candidates to also win the conference.

Do we care about the Chiefs?
