Costa Rican Gymnast Gloriana Sánchez Claims Silver Medal in Mace Competition at South American Championship

In the midst of the celebration for the bronze medal obtained by the Costa Rican athlete Gloriana Sánchez in the South American Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship, there came a new reason to celebrate: Sánchez won the silver medal in the mace competition.

The representation of Costa Rica responded to the invitation of the organization of the South American championship, held in Barranquilla, Colombia, accumulating two medals so far: bronze in All-Around, which considers the sum of all disciplines, such as ball, hoop , the ribbon and maces, and silver in the mace competition.

The gold medal in the mace category was awarded to Argentina, followed by Costa Rica with the silver medal and Brazil with the bronze. Gloriana Sánchez shared the bronze medal podium with the representatives of Brazil, who won the gold and silver medals.

These medals increase the confidence of Sánchez, a 16-year-old athlete, for her next participation in the Pan American Games in Santiago 2023. In the Barranquilla tournament, Costa Rica is represented by two athletes, Mariangel Soto and Sánchez, both under the direction of coach Natalia Brenes.
