On October 17, the City of Terrebonne held a guestbook signing ceremony to honor 60 citizens for their merit or their involvement within the community.

It was in a jovial atmosphere, punctuated by palpable nervousness, that around a hundred people, all dressed to the nines, gathered at the Foyer Tergel of the Théâtre du Vieux-Terrebonne to attend the event.

By way of introduction, the mayor of Terrebonne, Mathieu Traversy recalled that this ceremony aims to highlight citizens who have stood out through their sporting performance, through their exceptional achievement or through their involvement within the community. .

During his speech, the mayor of Terrebonne underlined the fact that certain recipients “shine through their talent, their success or their bravery, while others work behind the scenes and sometimes in the shadows”.

“It is often said, and with good reason: the heart and wealth of a city are its inhabitants and its employees. It is all of you, present here, who participate in the creation of this wealth. And that is why you are here this evening,” declared Mayor Traversy, before adding that it was an opportunity for the City to “recognize your contribution and show its appreciation and his admiration.

60 recipients were thus called in turn to come and sign the guestbook alongside the mayor of Terrebonne and the president of the Sports, Leisure and Outdoors Commission, Michel Corbeil.

Among them were 45 citizens who had distinguished themselves in a sporting discipline or worked behind the scenes to advance sports among young people and nearly fifteen residents of Terrebonne whose achievements in other areas were worthy of mention.

Ovation

For nearly 45 minutes, the guests gave themselves over to cheering for each recipient, phones in hand so as not to miss any of this gratifying moment.

Some called citizens were also entitled to an ovation from the public like the Kodiaks players from the North Shore, the founders of the Le Mot Festival or even one of the founders of the Société d’histoire de la region of Terrebonne, now known as Heritage and History Terrebonne, Claude Blouin, as well as the former member of the Urban Planning Advisory Committee for 30 years, Claire Tessier-Messier.

At the end of this ceremony, the 60 recipients all left with smiles on their faces and their certificates in their pockets.
