Champions League: Celtic supporters’ impressive support for Palestine

Green, white, red and black as far as the eye can see. While the war has raged for almost 20 days between Hamas and Israel, Celtic Park in Glasgow (Scotland) showed massive support for Palestine this Wednesday evening, on the occasion of the Champions League match between Celtic Glasgow and Atlético Madrid.

Hundreds of flags were waved in the stands by local supporters, notably by the Green Brigade, the group of ultra supporters formed in 2006. Many “Free Palestine” could also be read there.

Already on Sunday, during a trip to Edinburgh against Hearts, the green and white flags had been replaced by Palestinian flags in the Celtic supporters’ stand. A new mark of support for the victims of the strikes on the soil of the Gaza Strip, and their families.

On the pitch, Celtic Glasgow got into their match perfectly by scoring in the 4th minute of the match thanks to a Kyogo Furuhashi cross shot. The Japanese international then scored his second goal in the Champions League this season. But the Colchoneros quickly returned to the match, thanks to Griezmann. The French equalized in the 25th minute, from a penalty.
