Kingsley Coman gave Bayern the lead after eight minutes in a deafening crowd. For Galatasaray, Mauro Icardi equalized after half an hour with a “Panenka penalty” (30th). After the break, Tuchel’s team appeared callous and secured the three points with goals from Harry Kane (73′) and Jamal Musiala (79′). ÖFB legionnaire Konrad Laimer played through for Bayern, saw a yellow card for a foul in the 32nd minute and opened the scoring to make it 3-1.

The Moroccan Noussair Mazraoui, who was criticized for a pro-Palestinian social media post, celebrated a comeback. The recently struck Moroccan had distributed a video wishing the Palestinians victory in the conflict with Israel. The right-back returned to the starting line-up after a “detailed and clarifying conversation” with the club management and replaced the injured Leon Goretzka (metacarpal fracture). Instead, Laimer slipped back into central midfield.

Coman takes advantage of positional errors

It took eight minutes for Bayern to take the lead in the Turkish capital. After an assist from Leroy Sane, Coman took advantage of a positional error by Kazimcan Karatas with an ice-cold shot into the far corner. Galatasaray had previously taken the game. Shortly afterwards, Kerem Aktürkoglu found two great chances to equalize. First the offensive player failed with a volley past Bayern goalkeeper Sven Ulreich (9th), then the 25-year-old failed to hit the empty goal from six meters (11th). A shot from Lucas Torreira also flew just over the top corner after 24 minutes.

Four minutes later, Icardi, who was recently injured, was brought down in the penalty area by Joshua Kimmich and converted from the spot himself. In the 38th minute, Ulreich once again saved in great need for the weak Bayern against Aktürkoglu. Shortly before the half-time whistle, Icardi had the lead again (45th + 1). However, the guests from Germany managed to do this in the second half, Kane poked the ball over the line after a nice combination. Shortly afterwards, Musiala made the decision with a well-placed shot.
