Carabinieri Announces Competition for Student Athletes in Various Disciplines

The general command of the Carabinieri has announced a competition for student athletes. The disciplines and sporting specialties of the positions to be filled are varied. The qualification required to access the public selection is a lower secondary education diploma.

The discipline

The competition involves the recruitment of 14 carabinieri on four-year terms and is reserved for athletes recognized by the Italian National Olympic Committee (Coni) or by national sports federations affiliated with Coni. The disciplines are: judo, fighting, karate and martial arts (1 female athlete in the “karate” specialty of “kumite” fighting – cat. – 68 kg); athletics (1 male athlete in the “100 m and 4×100 m relay” specialty; 1 male athlete in the “400 m and 400 m hurdles” specialties; 1 female athlete in the “half” special marathon and 5,000 m.”; 1 male athlete in the specialty “10 km walking and 20 km walking”); swimming (1 female athlete in the 200 m long course medley specialty (50 m); 1 male athlete in the “200 m, 400 m freestyle and 200 m butterfly” specialty); cycling (1 male athlete in the “mountain bike XCO” discipline); fencing (1 male athlete in the “foil” specialty; 3 female athletes in the “saber” specialty); canoeing (1 male athlete in the “K1 500m – senior” specialty); winter sports (1 female athlete in the “alpine skiing” discipline, specialty “special slalom, giant slalom, super giant slalom and combined”).

The requirements

Candidates must meet the following requirements: be at least 17 years old and not have exceeded the day of their 24th birthday. For those who have completed at least 12 months of military service, the upper age limit is raised to 28 years. For candidates only in the Olympic rowing and canoe disciplines (K1 500m specialty – Senior) and Athletics (100m specialty and 4x100m relay) the age limit is raised to 35 years; if minors, have the consent of those exercising parental responsibility; enjoyment of civil and political rights; lower secondary education diploma; not having been dismissed, dispensed or declared forfeited from employment in a public administration, dismissed from work employed by public administrations following disciplinary proceedings, or acquitted, by authority or ex officio, from previous enlistment in the armed forces or police , excluding acquittals due to psychophysical fitness;
having engaged in inexcusable conduct; not having behaved towards democratic institutions that do not give safe assurance of scrupulous fidelity to the Republican Constitution and to the reasons of state security; not having been convicted of non-culpable crimes, even with a sentence of application of sentence upon request, with a conditionally suspended sentence or with a criminal decree of conviction or with the benefit of non-mention; not having been subjected to prevention measures; not be currently accused in criminal proceedings for non-culpable crimes; if military, in the case of criminal proceedings for non-culpable crimes, previously instituted against them and not concluded with an irrevocable sentence of acquittal (because the fact does not exist, or because the accused did not commit it, pronounced pursuant to art. 530 of the criminal procedure code), not be subjected to consequent disciplinary proceedings currently being defined;
have achieved, in the period between 1 January 2022 and the deadline for submitting applications, in the discipline/specialty for which they intend to compete, competitive results of at least national level certified by the Italian National Olympic Committee (Coni) or by the federations national sports affiliated to CONI. For the titles of multi-annual events (Olympics, World Cup, European Championships, Mediterranean Games, Universiade), in addition to those acquired in the aforementioned time period, those acquired before 1 January 2022 can also be assessed if they relate to the last edition of the multi-annual event carried out before the deadline for submitting the application; be recognized as an “athlete of national interest” by the Italian national Olympic committee (Coni) and/or by the national sports federations affiliated with Coni.

How to apply

The application to participate in the competition must be completed and submitted by 25 October 2023 exclusively online, via the procedure available in the competitions area of ​​the official website of the Carabinieri.
