Bayern against Darmstadt, 8-0, a circus act of a football game. In the first half, referee Martin Petersen – Simsalabim – had three players disappear from the field with a red card. “Of course you get stuck,” he said afterwards. Three reds in the first half, that had never happened before. But all three decisions were justifiable. With the precision of knife throwers, ten Munich players gave nine Darmstadt players eight goals in the second half. The most memorable feat was achieved by Harry Kane, who rode a unicycle on a high wire while blindfolded God save the King gurgling backwards, which one would have thought possible that afternoon, but instead he hit the goal from 55 meters. The people of Darmstadt also filled their role as sad clowns perfectly.
