Bryan Colon is currently in a strong position to choose his next club which could still be the Geneva Lions.
SWISS BASKETBALL/PIERRE MAILLARD
Injured on April 11 in Vevey, Bryan Colon rediscovered his basketball skills, with a ball and a basket but still without a Lions jersey or any other club for that matter. While the championship resumes its rights this weekend, the former Geneva captain, who is recovering from his knee operation, has no contract. He is content to get back into shape, while waiting to be at 100% of his abilities to come back. But where will it bounce?
Bryan, the championship resumes this weekend, without you. What state of mind are you in?
Things are going well, even really well, even physically stronger than before. I’m preparing for the next five years! I am continuing my rehabilitation successfully where I am even ahead of what was initially planned. I met Robert Margot, sports director of the Lions, a few days ago. We write to each other from time to time. We’ll see what’s best for me when I’m ready to play again, hopefully in November or December.

Bryan Colon, currently without a club
Is it at that time, in November or December, that you will choose the club where you will play this season?
It is at that moment that I will look at what is best for me, knowing that not only Geneva and Massagno are interested in my return. There are other teams who have asked me. Somehow, I find myself in a position of strength. I can just tell you that I will join the team that will be able to fight for the title against Friborg Olympic. Afterwards, it will be up to me to make the right choice, to evaluate the best situation during the two and a half months when I will not be there, the team that will suit me best.
Robert Margot believes that you still have the heart of a true Lion and that you will choose the Apple Tree where we eagerly hope for your return…
It is true that I really enjoyed my time in Geneva. It was amazing! Afterwards, we will have to see how the Lions have built their team, how they will evolve and if the players in place will find their place knowing that I, without pretension, impose on a team. I’m not going to arrive at Le Pommier just to be there. I want to have exactly the same leadership role. There are quite a few parameters to take into account. I admit that my heart beats like Lion, but it can also beat for Neuchâtel where I played for seven years. I appreciate that Robert Margot is in contact with me, he is someone human, someone who highlights this aspect and I also function like this, so we will see.
What is the element that will tip the scales?
I repeat, there are many things that will come into play, such as club finances for example. I still have requirements, to the extent that I know that I can make the difference in the quest for a title. Like I said, I’m in a strong position, but for now I’m focusing on my preparation. I’m going to prepare like crazy to be ready. As soon as the time comes, we’re going to sit down and discuss what’s best for everyone. But I’m not ready to make sacrifices.
‹‹Geneva currently has a small margin ahead.››

What does your heart say it has a preference?
I will go to the club that I like the most, even if Geneva has a small margin for the moment. I know the president, the sporting director and especially the players well who write to me almost every day to try to convince me to stay with them, because they know the captain that I am and what I can bring to the team. That’s gratifying.
Will you be at Le Pommier on Sunday, for the clash between the Lions and Massagno?
Yes, I’m going to come because I have a meeting with people from… Massagno. But I will try to hide somewhere, knowing that both clubs want me.
