Saturday October 21, Danielle Jégou, regional representative of the “Vivre Comme Avant” association came to meet the young Briochin judokas of the Amicale laïque. Throughout the month of October, the club has committed to donating the sum of one euro per person stepping onto the mat to take part in a class. This Saturday, an additional action for children, parents and anyone wishing to participate was offered. The family practice of judo and ju-jitsu followed by the discovery of taiso was a real success, the presence of all the licensees on the mat made it possible to raise an amount of €1,082 for the association. “This amount will help many people,” explains Danielle Jégou. Our goal is to offer women suffering from breast cancer individual and emotional support from female volunteers who have all experienced this illness.”
A beautiful solidarity
The commitment for the second consecutive year from the club’s team of judo teachers was self-evident. “Cancer does not choose and everyone can be affected in one way or another. It is therefore essential to mobilize on our scale, testifies Anne-Sophie Dartois, judo teacher. The idea would of course be to go even further with a possible collaboration with oncology services since we are two teachers trained in the management of the resumption of adapted physical activity, following cancer in particular.” The club aims to be dynamic in terms of sporting results (a few tournaments have already taken place with good results among cadets and juniors) but also by campaigning for good causes. Values which, ultimately, characterize judo activity well.
