Brentford’s Wheatsheaf Park Stadium Re-Opening Supported by Staines Town FC for Community Benefit

Brentford’s re-opening of Wheatsheaf Park stadium has been supported by representatives from Staines Town FC after an agreement was reached between the two parties which will see the Bees lend support to the local community through Brentford FC Community Sports Trust.

Earlier this week Brentford announced that it has support from all the relevant stakeholders to play matches at Wheatsheaf Park with immediate effect.

The B team faced AS Monaco Under-21s in a behind closed doors match on Wednesday evening and the venue is now being readied to open its doors to spectators on 31 October as Neil MacFarlane’s side host RC Strasbourg’s U21s in a 7pm kick-off.

The club has made a number of enhancements to the site which include a brand-new playing surface, as well as improvements to supporter facilities and the player changing areas.

Brentford B will face RC Strasbourg on Tuesday 31 October at 7pm

Discussing Brentford’s move to Wheatsheaf Park, Staines Town FC secretary Steve Parsons said: “Staines Town FC is delighted to support Brentford’s new endeavours at Wheatsheaf Park and we are sure it will be a successful venture.

“We welcome the Bees’ support for our own junior and community sections, which will benefit all football in the borough of Spelthorne, and in particular the young people of Staines.”

Brentford fan and community relations director Sally Stephens said: “Here at Brentford we want to become an asset to the local community around Wheatsheaf Park. We’re looking forward to working with members from Staines Town FC to help support grassroots football in the area.

“We’re also pleased to be bringing affordable football to the local Staines community and hope to see regular crowds come along to watch our B team and under-18 teams play.”
