Bottrop’s Judo Young Talent Shines at U14 Bayer Cup in Leverkusen

Bottrop. At the U14 Bayer Cup in Leverkusen, Bottrop’s judo young talent shows strong performances. This is how the talents performed in the individual classes.

At the International Bayer Cup for the U14 in Leverkusen, the ambitious judo youngsters won JC 66 Bottrop once gold, once bronze and took fifth place twice. Third place went to DJK Adler Bottrop 07.

In Leverkusen, the Bottrop talents met competition from Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg. Mirra Alperovych competed in the weight class up to 57 kg (8 participants). She left no stone unturned in the first two fights and was the winner after just under 30 seconds each. She was also very focused in the final, won again before the end of the regular fight time and confidently took first place.

Bottrop duel in the weight class up to 37 kg

John-Lukas Patz started in the category up to 37 kg. In the strong weight class with 15 participants, things started with a strong victory through early Ippon. He narrowly lost the second duel against the eventual runner-up. In the consolation round, Patz won the next two fights early, so that he faced Sam Hermanns from DJK Adler Bottrop 07 in the “small final”.

The two know each other from numerous training sessions and tournaments, which is why it was a very close fight that resulted in the golden score after three minutes. After another minute and a half, Hermanns had luck on his side, so Patz ended up in a strong fifth place.

Noé Schneider fought in the class up to 43 kg (12 participants). He lost right from the start against the eventual winner. No problem for the Bottrop talent, who took third place in the consolation round. The next two fights only lasted about half a minute before Schneider won them. In the “small final” he maintained maximum concentration and secured victory early and thus the bronze medal.

International tournament educational for Bottrop’s young talent

Paul Wörsdörfer (up to 46 kg/13 participants) started with a convincing victory, after which his nerves and concentration were severely strained because there were technical problems on his mat, which meant that he had to take a half-hour break. The Bottroper fought with concentration again in the semi-finals, but had to narrowly admit defeat shortly before the end of the regular fight time. Wörsdörfer also lost the “small final” and finished fifth.

Jakob Hirschfelder started in the class up to 40 kg (17 participants). After his opening victory, he narrowly lost the next fight in the main round despite a convincing performance, so he also had to go to the consolation round. There he met the eventual third-place finisher. The good performance wasn’t enough to win, so Hirschfelder only finished in 9th place.

“The weekend was very educational for our youngsters, who were able to gain further experience with the U15 rules and show strong performances. There is clear progress to be seen and everyone is trying to implement what they have learned in the competition,” praised JC coach Sven König.
