NBA: Boston Celtics extend Payton Pritchard

The Celtics continue to work on their team and have tied up another rotation player for the long term in Payton Pritchard. According to Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN), Pritchard will stay with the Celtics for another four years, but the 25-year-old will receive $30 million until 2028.

Pritchard was drafted by the Celtics with the 26th pick in 2020 and would have become a restricted free agent if Boston had not reached an agreement with the guard. Last year, Pritchard only played 48 games and only averaged 5.6 points and 1.3 assists, but the playmaker is expected to take on a larger role in the upcoming season.

After Derrick White and Jrue Holiday, Pritchard is the third guard on the Celtics and should take on a similar role to the traded Malcolm Brogdon last year.

NBA: Team USA wants Jrue Holiday for the Olympics

LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid and Co. – they should all be part of Team USA in order to not let anything go wrong at the Olympics next year after the semi-final exit at the World Cup in Paris. According to Adrian Wojnarowksi (ESPN), squad planner Grant Hill and Co. also want to persuade Jrue Holiday to take part in the Olympics again.

The Boston Celtics guard is said to enjoy a high standing among the officials and is not averse to further participation. The USA is hoping that Holiday will primarily provide defense from the guard position, something the team sorely lacked in the Philippines.

At the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo, Holiday was one of the team’s best players because he put the opponents’ best guards on the chain.

NBA: Former Warrior Anthony Lamb goes to Australia

Anthony Lamb played 62 games for the Warriors last year, starting four times, but still didn’t get a chance to sign a standard contract in the NBA. The forward has now drawn conclusions from this and is moving to the Australian NBL instead.

As Olgun Uluc (ESPN) reports, Lamb is signing with the New Zealand Breakers, but according to Michael Scotto (HoopsHype) he has a release clause should an NBA team still show interest.

Lamb began the preseason with the Warriors on a two-way contract, but then established himself in the rotation and received a full deal from the Dubs. In the playoffs, Lamb was allowed on the field six times, but mostly only in garbage time.
