After the training-free Tuesday, things really got going again on Wednesday at Borussia Park. Coach Gerardo Seoane welcomed 19 field players to the training session, but two important professionals were not there: Ko Itakura and Tomas Cvancara.

Itakura continues to suffer from a bruised ankle. The injury, which has been causing the Japanese player problems for some time, made it impossible to take part in the derby against 1. FC Köln (1:3) on Sunday. The goal remains that the defender is available for Heidenheim, but time is getting tighter for Itakura. If the national player is unavailable again, Marvin Friedrich is likely to take over the middle position in the three-man chain again.

In addition to Itakura, Tomas Cvancara, who was part of the starting eleven in Cologne, was also missing from the training ground. The reason: Cvancara is suffering from a flu-like infection. The Czech, who started the season so promisingly with three goals and an assist on the first four matchdays, will also have to wait and see how his recovery progresses. Jordan is available as an alternative for the attack.

Scally is still pausing

Joe Scally, who suffered a blow to the thigh in Cologne, was also sidelined on Wednesday but should be able to play against Heidenheim. Tony Jantschke, who was recently out due to muscular problems, was at least able to complete an individual session again. Jonas Omlin (shoulder surgery) and Hannes Wolf (torn meniscus) are missing from the long-term injuries. Yvandro Borges Sanches is out with a thigh muscle injury.

The Borussia team want to finally get their first home win against Heidenheim at the fifth attempt. There was one defeat each against Bayer Leverkusen (0:3), FC Bayern (1:2) and RB Leipzig (0:1), and there was only a draw against Mainz 05 (2:2) before the international break.
