Blowgun Shooting: A Dignified and Accessible Practice for All Ages

We’re not going to lie, we had already practiced the blowpipe. But rather on the school benches with a ballpoint pen and balls of paper. Here, the practice is much more dignified and above all, in no way reprehensible by a teacher or other supervisor.

The blowgun, the dart and the target

To begin, a quick point about terms. The blowgun is a plastic tube which generally measures 1.20 m. Some may use larger or smaller ones depending on their size and comfort, but this one can be handled by everyone. We then slide in a tip then a dart inside, a kind of needle similar to a dart. He’s the one we’re going to send to the target.

Children and adults alike can try their hand at blowgun shooting at the new Libercourt club.

Once this equipment preparation is complete, all that remains is to position yourself facing the target. To begin with, we are five meters away with our objective – eight meters in competition. An eye on our target, a deep breath and a breath into the tip: pfiout, there’s the dart planted in our crosshairs in less time than it takes to say it. In just three tries, the arrow almost hits the center of the target.

Accessible and supervised practice

The practice is very accessible and requires no special skills. You don’t even have to take a big breath, you just need to be precise. Blowgun shooting is also very widely open to people with disabilities. “ The important thing is pleasure », smiles the vice-president of the new Libercourt club, André Verslype. That’s good, you get the hang of it quickly and the ease you quickly acquire allows you to progress.

And the structure, installed at the town’s bowling alley, has the advantage of also offering archery on the other side of the track. Enough to multiply your skills. With three supervising teachers – soon to be five – the students are spoiled for choice.
