STOCKERAU/SCHREMS. After two splits against the Highlanders, the Beers Juniors were able to win both games against the Cubs youngsters in Stockerau, but had to fend for success twice for a long time.
Spiel #1: Beers Juniors vs Stock City Cubs 9-8
The Juniors started very solidly and built a comfortable 5-1 lead after three innings. After that, some uncertainty crept in in the pitching and defense, which the home Cubs were able to take advantage of to take an 8-7 lead. With this scoring going into the final inning. But the Juniors’ nerves held, and with a home run and strong pitching they managed to turn things around and thus secure a narrow 9:8 victory.
Spiel #2: Beers Juniors vs Stock City Cubs 17-1
Game 2 only brought a few hits at the beginning. The Cubs were able to score one run at the start, while the Beers had one batter after the other go out. So the Stockerauers led 1-0 in the 4th inning. After that, however, the Cubs’ pitchers lost their strength. But the juniors were wide awake, exploited these weaknesses and scored consistently in the last 3 periods of the game. A match that had been balanced for a long time ended relatively clearly for the Schremsers.
After this successful performance, the newly founded Beers junior team is now taking a winter break to recharge their batteries. Preparation will begin in the hall in January in order to be prepared for the 2024 season.
