Facing the American Tiafoe, Gaël Monfils lost (5-7, 6-1, 6-4) in the 2nd round of the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna.

Frenchman Gaël Monfils lost in three sets 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 to American Frances Tiafoe on Thursday during the second round of the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna.

Four days after winning the 12th ATP tournament of his career in Stockholm, the Frenchman, who rose to 89th place in the world after his title, had heavy legs.

After a good start, concluded by a break synonymous with the first set (7-5), the 37-year-old exploded in the second set lost 6-1. Tiafoe, 14th in the world, then qualified for the next round, winning the last set 6-4, before meeting the Italian Jannik Sinner, world No.4, in the quarters.
