The basketball players from Alba Berlin suffered a clear defeat in the Euroleague. The Berliners deservedly lost to Virtus Bologna on Wednesday evening (October 18, 2023) 76:87 (26:44). The Italians were better throughout the game and never allowed Alba to enter the game.
Alba had problems from the start
The hosts appeared much more determined in the first half and presented themselves accurately in the first quarter in front of the frenetic fans in Bologna. After the first few minutes, Alba – in the starting five with Žiga Samar, Matt Thomas, Sterling Brown, Louis Olinde and world champion Johannes Thiemann – was already well behind at 11:27.
Israel Gonzales’ team got a little better at the start of the second quarter, but Bologna remained the dominant team. Alba struggled particularly on offense and deservedly went into the break with a lead of 26:44.

Alba initially improved after half-time
At the start of the third period, the Alba team showed its best performance in the game. Louis Olinde in particular now acted with significantly more speed and accuracy. Bologna pulled away again. The score went into the last ten minutes with a score of 67:51. In the final quarter, Alba came a little closer to the Italians, but Bologna’s victory was never in danger. In the end it was 87:76.
