Awards: Scalvini the only Italian for the ‘Golden Boy’ – Football

Great satisfaction at Atalanta for the inclusion of Giorgio Scalvini, the only Italian and only Serie A player, among the finalists of the 2023 edition of the European Golden Boy award, curated by Tuttosport and Football Benchmark unveiled tonight at the Cucinelli Theater in Solomeo in Corciano (Perugia). The top twenty players of the Golden Boy Index appear in the list with the exception of Gavi who, despite the current 4th place, was excluded as he was already present in the roll of honour.


The defender from Palazzolo sull’Oglio, who grew up in the Zingonia youth academy from the age of 12, is in the final with 20 of the most promising young players in continental football after the vote of the jury of 50 journalists from all over Europe called to elect the Absolute Best 2023. The winners will be announced at a press conference in November which will anticipate the award ceremony on Monday 4 December in Turin.


These are the finalists: Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich), Xavi Simons (RB Leipzig), Antonio Silva (Benfica), Alejandro Balde (Barcelona), Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen), Benjamin Sesko (RB Leipzig) , precisely Giorgio Scalvini, the former Atalanta player Rasmus Hojlund (Manchester United), Levi Colwill (Chelsea), Johan Bakayoko (PSV), Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth), Arthut Vermeeren (Antwerp), Evan Ferguson (Brighton), Lucas Gourna-Douath (Salzburg), Warren Zaire-Emery (PSG), Ousmane Diomandé (Sporting Lisbon), Arnau Martinez (Girona), Mathys Tel (Bayern Munich) and Andy Diouf (Lens). The five Wild Cards reserved by the organizing newspaper are Arda Guler (Real Madrid), Bilal El Khannouss (Genk), Martin Baturina (Dinamo Zagreb), Joao Neves (Benfica) and Lamine Yamal (Barcelona).
